Backed by impressive scores across the board, synchronized swimming finished in a close second in Gainesville, Fla., last weekend. For the second straight week, No. 2 women’s water polo (7-0, 0-0 MPSF) faced off against three top-15 teams, and for the second straight week, Stanford finished the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record.

Following an impressive showing at the Cal Cup last weekend, No. 2 women’s water polo (5-0, 0-0 MPSF) will host a trio of games this weekend at the Avery Aquatic Center.

No. 2 Stanford men’s gymnastics finished first at the Stanford Open in a triumphant return to the Farm on Saturday. The Cardinal finished with a score of 420.0500, defeating No. 1 Oklahoma (408.2000) and No. 12 California (400.7000).

The No. 9 women’s gymnastics team built on a promising first meet of the season to finish second at the NorCal Classic in Davis, CA. Stanford competed against multiple Bay Area rivals, including San Jose State, No. 22 UC Davis, No. 23 Sacramento State, and first-place finisher No. 3 California.

FC Dallas picked Derek Waldeck ‘19 in the third round (66th overall) of the 2020 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. He joins former teammate Tanner Beason ‘18 in the MLS as the only other Stanford player to be selected so far this year.

Multiple Stanford players were honored with All Pac-12 Conference awards for the team’s 2019 season. Three players each were named to the All Pac-12 first team and second team, and two received honorable mentions. Headlining the group is freshman forward/midfielder Ousseni Bouda.

Stanford alumnus Jake Bailey, the Patriots rookie punter, was in peak form against the Philadelphia Eagles this past Sunday. In what was a low-scoring, 17-10 victory, every play mattered. Bailey’s eight punts traveled an average of 47.6 yards and six of his punts landed within the 20-yard line. Three of his punts pinned Philadelphia’s offense within the six-yard line.
